The Muslim Arts College, born out of the vision of the Muslim Educational Society (MES), is very close to Thuckalay, nestled within the charming village of Thiruvithancode, just 10 km south of Nagercoil. The College offers an exemplary learning environment and a centre par excellence. The college visions to help boys and girls develop competencies, commitments and characteristics which have distinguished human beings at their best. The College offers strong academics and individualized attention. The College proposes expanded horizons with opportunities to study abroad and make connections with our strong alumni base. The College provides a platform for academic flexibility and independence to think and participate in what’s most important to you. The college extends its warmth of love and fellow feeling to all. The year 1982 was remarkable. A new era of opportunity was about to begin. The Muslim Educational Society (MES) gave wings and feathers to the Muslim Arts College (MAC). In the year 1982 the College got recognition from the Governmentof Tamil Nadu and Madurai Kamaraj University. Later in the year 1990 the College was affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.
In 1984 the College started B. Com, B. A. history, B. Sc. Mathematics and B. Sc. Physics. In 1986 B. Com Corporate Sectretaryship was introduced. In 1987 B. Sc. Advanced Zoology and Bio Technology and in 1991 B. Sc. Chemistry were added. In 2001 B. Sc. Computer Science, M. Sc. Zoology and in 2002 B. Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics, BBA and M. Com were also begun. In the year 2003 B. A. English Literature was ushered in. In the year 2006 B. Sc. Hotel management and catering Science, M.Sc. Nutrition andDietetics, and PhD Zoology, were introduced. In 2007 M.Sc. Hotel management and M. Phil. Zoology, were started. In the year 2008 M. A. English literature, m. Sc. Maths, and M.Sc. Information Technology were also introduced. In the year 2009 B. A. Tamil Literature, BC. A., B. Sc. Visual Communication and M. Phil. Commerce were started. In 2010 B. A. English Literature with Computer application, B. Sc. Fashion Technology, M.Phil. English and PhD in English were added on. In the Year 2011 M. Phil Tamil was started. In the year 2014 M. A. Tamil, M. A. History, M.Sc. computer Science, M.Phil. maths were started. In the following year, 2015 B. A. Arabic, B. Com CA, M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Chemistry were introduced. In the year 2016 B. A English (Additional), B. A. Public Administration, M.Phil. History and M.Phil.Physics were the new courses added on.
In the year 2017 B. Sc. Maths (Additional)M.Phil. Nutrition and Dietetics, M.A. English (Additional) M. Sc. Maths (Additional) PhD in Tamil were the latest programmes launched. Enrolment grew. The College thrived steadily. And generations of men and women, found their lives transformed through the steering of this College. Today, 36 years later, the Muslim Arts College once again is choosing the bold way forward. Now the College has 18 UG courses, 7 PG courses and 7 M. Phil. Courses. The Institution offers PhD programmes in English and Zoology. Inspired by the rich tradition of faith, reason, service and justice, the plan builds on existing strengths- and challenges to do more. We counsel more students to become “Men and women for Others”. It is the talented and dedicated faculty, who are the key to achievinggreater levels of academic excellence. It’s truly reflects the high quality of teaching, learning and research that is happening throughout our campus.
